Model Town tragedy: JIT gives clean chit to PM Nawaz Sharif, CM Shahbaz Sharif & cabinet members
LAHORE (92 News) – The joint investigation team (JIT) report on the Model Town tragedy has acquitted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, former provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah and cabinet members of charges.
According to the report, the police and the TMA had only been ordered to remove encroachments.
However, the JIT report held 10 policemen, including former SP Security Salman Ali, responsible for the tragedy.
The JIT led by Quetta CCPO Abdur Razzaq Cheema was formed on February 11, 2014.
SSP Shahzad Akbar, ISI’s Lt-Col Ahmed Bilal, IB Director Muhammad Ali and DSP Khalid Abu Bakr.
According to the report, the statements of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, former law minister Rana Sanaullah and other several personalities.
The report said that the PAT workers threw petrol bombs on the police and damaged the police armoured van.
