Monsoon to begin in upper parts of the country from today
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Met office has forecast beginning of Monsoon season in upper parts of the country from midnight tonight.
According to Met office spokesman, the a weather system from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal is heading towards Pakistan and would cause monsoon rains with thundershower in Kashmir, Hazara, Islamabad and Rawalpindi divisions from tonight. “The system would extend upto Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha and Sahiwal divisions on Monday,” he said.
To another question, the spokesman said that a less than normal Monsoon with some uncertainties is expected in the country during the upcoming season from July to September this year.
However, a few extreme rainfall events may occur over AJK, North-east Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa resulting into flooding due to interaction of easterly and westerly systems.
