MQM decides to assign portfolio of Karachi mayor to Wasim Akhtar; Arshad Vohra likely to be deputy mayor
KARACHI (92 News) – The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to assign the portfolio of Karachi mayor to Wasim Akhtar during a meeting on Tuesday.
Arshad Vohra is likely to be made deputy mayor.
Azhar Ahmed and Gul Faraz Khattak are likely to be made chairman and vice-chairman of West District, while Rehan Hashmi is likely to be made chairman of Central District.
In Korangi District, MPA Shiraz is likely to be assigned the slot of chairman, while Hameeduz Zafar will be the chairman in the wake of an alliance with the N-League.
Former town nazim Wasay Jalil will be the chairman in District East.
The meeting also decided to re-include Dr Farooq Sattar in the Rabita Committee and make him deputy convener. Senator Nasreen Jalil has been re-included in the Rabita Committee.
