MQM leads LG polls in Karachi with 254 seats
KARACHI (92 News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has emerged the single largest party by winning 254 seats out of 456 in the third and final phase of local government elections in Karachi that was held on Saturday.
According to unofficial results, the MQM bagged 254 seats out of 456, while the alliance of Pakistan Tehreeke-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has failed terribly. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won 39 seats while the independent candidates could only bag 34 seats.
The MQM won 127 seats out of 209 in Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, while the PPP could only bag 17 seats.
The MQM bagged 100 seats out 102 in Central District and the PPP could only win 2 seats.
In South district, the MQM grabbed 20 seats out of 62, PPP won 8, Independents gain lead on 10 seats while other parties could only bag 14 seats.
In District East, the MQM grabbed 36 seats out of 62, PPP won 2, Independents gain lead on 4 seats while other parties baged 25 seats. In District West, The the MQM grabbed 36 seats out of 98, PPP won 5 and Independents gain lead on 10 seats.
