MQM-P to protest against load-shedding tomorrow
KARACHI (92 News) – The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has announced plans for a protest demonstration on Sunday against power load-shedding in the metropolis.
Dr Farooq Sattar said it was unfortunate that the city which paid the most tax had been abandoned to K-Electric which was unable to provide it electricity.
Addressing a press conference today, Dr Sattar said Karachi contributed 60 to 70 per cent tax of the country’s tax revenue.
Sattar said several areas of Karachi were facing a severe water shortage. He said K-Electric had failed to provide electricity to Karachi’s millions.
He said that protest demonstrations would be held outside the Chief Minister’s House and in front of the relevant offices if the energy issue was not resolved immediately.
Lamenting that the federal and provincial government had failed to resolve the load-shedding woes, Sattar urged the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the power and water supply issues in Karachi.
