MQM worker ‘killed’ by police buried; autopsy report confirms torture
KARACHI (92 News) – MQM worker Muhammad Waseem who was allegedly tortured to death by the police was laid to rest in a graveyard in Muhajar Camp area on Wednesday.
Hundreds of people and MQM workers attended his funeral.
Earlier, his relatives strongly protested against the police outside Jinnah Hospital mortuary. They also broke the door of the mortuary and blocked a road outside it.
Nadeem said that the police had picked his brother Waseem from his house and he has not been involved in criminal activities.
He appealed to IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali to provide them justice.
On the other hand, the Karachi CPO has taken notice of the death and sought a report from the DIG East.
The DSP, SHO and three policemen have been suspended on the charge of negligence.
An investigation team has been constituted to probe the matter.
A complete shutdown was observed against the killing.
Meanwhile, the MQM has announced two-day mourning against the incident.
