MQM’s Tariq Mir exposes party’s links with RAW before British police
LONDON/KARACHI (92 News) – A senior leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Tariq Mir reportedly made revelations about the nexus between his party and the Indian intelligence agency RAW, stating that the Indians used to pay 800,000 British Pounds per year to the MQM.
As per documents released online by anonymous sources late Friday night, Tariq Mir, in his alleged statement to the British police, highlighted the meetings between MQM and the Indian officials. In the statement Mir also revealed that top MQM leadership including MQM chief Altaf Hussain, senior leaders ImranFarooq and Mohammad Anwar were all aware of this financial aid and the ongoing meetings.
“At some stage our expenses (of the secretariat) were about 100,000 pounds per month. I was aware of our significant increase in funding as a result of the Indian connection. That funding continued for, I cannot be sure how long.” Mir told the police.
Mir also stated before the police of the possibility that Altaf Hussain received this aid directly, or through Mohammad Anwar. He stated that this funding from India was kept as a very closely guarded secret. Mir stated that it was his responsibility to arrange the air tickets and to make the hotel arrangements.
