NAB, Broadsheet signed agreement to declare assets in June 2000: Shahzad Akbar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Adviser to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar said that the NAB and Broadsheet had signed an agreement to declare assets in June 2000.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said that Nawaz Sharif went to Saudi Arabia after a deal in October 2000 and the NAB cancelled the agreement in October 2003. "Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani was the prime minister when the payment was made after a settlement was reached," he disclosed. "Out of $21.5 million, the government paid $20.5 million under the head of the Sharif family. In 2019, an appeal was filed and the case was decided in favour of Broadsheet."

He said that it was price of the NRO which was being paid. "It has been written in the 2018 order that Shehbaz Sharif had paid Rs 7.3 million to the NAB, It has also been written in the order that all assets, including Avenfield, have been proved," he added.
