NAB chairman approves inquiries against Khurshid Shah, Mehtab Abbasi
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Justice Javed Iqbal approved nine inquiries and four investigations during a meeting of the executive board on Wednesday.
The inquiries have been approved against PPP leader Syed Khurshid Ali Shah and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi. The board also approved to file a corruption reference against TESCO XEN Syed Ikramullah. He faces the charge of causing a loss of Rs49.07 million to the national exchequer by misusing his authority.
Moreover, the inquiries have been approved against Punjab former secretaries Khalid Sherdil, Mingora Forests SDFO Muhammad Iqbal Khan and officers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Auqaf Department, officers of Education Department Quetta and Khairpur Provincial Highways Development Division and Sukkur Electric Power Construction Company CEO Munawar Nazir Abbasi.
On the other hand, investigations have been approved against officers of the OGDCL administration, Privatization Commission officers, Trust Investment Bank, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Meanwhile, the NAB executive board approved to close the inquiry against former federal minister Syed Tanvirul Hassan Gillani and MNA Iftikhar Gillani due to lack of evidence.
Addressing the meeting, NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that the NAB is strictly following the policy of ‘Accountability for All’. “Our top priority is to take the white collar crime cases to the logical end. Corruption is a cancer which is the biggest hurdle in the progress and prosperity of the country,” he said.
He said that NAB’s faith is ‘corruption-free Pakistan’. “The NAB has recovered billions of rupees from the owners of illegal housing societies and returned to the affectees,” he said.
