KARACHI (92 News) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday sought Interpol help to locate encounter specialist former Malir SSP Rao Anwar.

The search and locate message has been sent to all airports besides sending all details.

The police have been unable to arrest Rao Anwar after the Supreme Court had on January 27 directed the Sindh Police to arrest Rao Anwar in three days.

On the other hand, former Malir SSP Rao Anwar has switched off his Whatsapp through which he was in contact with the journalists, to escape arrest.

He was in contact with the police officials and media representatives through Whatsapp.

Earlier, the Supreme Court on Thursday granted Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) AD Khawaja 10 more days to arrest suspended Malir SSP Rao Anwar, who is accused in case related to ‘extrajudicial’ killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud.

A three-member Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Jutices Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard a suo motu case on murder of 27-year-old Naqeebullah Mehsud, who was allegedly killed by Rao Anwar and his team in a ‘fake’ encounter on January 17 in Karachi.

The IGP while submitting a report in the apex court, requested the court to order intelligence agencies to assist police for the arrest of Rao Anwar, which the court accepted and directed the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) to provide their complete support to the Sindh Police for arrest of Rao Anwar.

The report said Naqeebullah and two of his friends were kidnapped on January 3. It said they were tortured in illegal custody. The report also said Rao Anwaar had tried to flee abroad using a counterfeit no-objection certificate.
