National Disaster Awareness Day being observed today
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Disaster Awareness Day is being observed today to commemorate the victims of disastrous earthquake that hit the upper parts of the country on this day in 2005.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is organizing various programs including flag march, cyclathon, awareness march and a public ceremony at Fatima Jinnah Park, Islamabad today.
Special prayers were offered and candle vigil and sky lanterns lighting were also held at the end of the programs in the evening.
The 12th Anniversary of devastating Earthquake 2005 is also being observed today with national spirit throughout Azad Kashmir.
Pakistan has shown immense resilience in the face of devastating natural disasters and crippling emergencies after the October 2005 earthquake which claimed over 70,000 human lives, besides infrastructure and other losses.
