NEPRA approves cut in power tariff

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has on Tuesday approved reduction of Rs 2.06 per unit in price of electricity.

The hearing pertaining to electricity prices was held in Islamabad, in which the Central Power Purchasing Company (CPPC) said that 6.72 billion units of electricity were produced during the month of November and the cost of the electricity was Rs 27.53billion.

Due to decreased prices of furnace oil the cheaper electricity was produced however the customers were charged at the same rate this November. The cost of production of electricity was Rs 7.43 per unit due to the decrease on Furnance Oil prices.

The electricity supplying companies collected an extra amount of Rs 20billion which will be returned to the consumers in January 2016.
