News about Press Council of Pakistan Ordinance is baseless: Marriyum
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the news about the Press Council of Pakistan (PCP) Ordinance is baseless.
Talking to the media on Monday, she said that permission has to be sought from the Law Ministry for legislation.
She said that an attempt had been made to target the office of a minister. “Fake letters were issued in my name to regulate the print media,” she said.
The minister rejected the news published about the Press Council of Pakistan. “A three-member committee has been formed to look into the matter,” she added.
She said that the director concerned had been made an OSD, while assistant director concerned had been suspended.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that it is their responsibility to provide facilities to the media and journalists.
She said that they had approved the Access to Information Bill.
