11 killed, several injured in rain-related incidents
LAHORE (92 News) – Eleven people were killed and several others injured in rain-related incidents in parts of the country including Punjab on Wednesday.
As per details, at least three labourers were killed and two others sustained injuries when the roof of a factory collapsed in the provincial capital’s Raiwind area.
Rescue staff managed to retrieve two injured from the rubble and shifted them to hospital for medical assistance.
Torrential rains in Lahore’s Bagrian area caused a roof to collapse injuring seven persons.
Meanwhile, lightning strikes have killed at least six people in different parts of country.
Intermittent rain also caused many feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company to trip which resulted in prolonged power cuts in several areas in and around the city.
On the other hand, rain/dust-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in KP, FATA, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur divisions and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Sahiwal, Multan, D.G. Khan, Zhob divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 12 hours.
Light rain/drizzle is expected at few places along Sindh coast while hot and humid weather elsewhere in the country.
According to the synoptic situation, westerly wave is affecting most upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist till Thursday.
