No reference being filed against Imran Khan, says ECP Secretary Babar Yaqoob

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary Babar Fateh Yaqoob has said that no reference is being filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan.

Talking to the media on Saturday, the decision not to extend the tenure of election tribunals had been made on June 22 and letters in this regard sent to High Courts in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 19.

The secretary said that the ECP was monitoring development funds being released in Sindh and Punjab. “We will take action if the funds were released out of the way,” he maintained.

He said that the ECP had asked the High Courts to assign the hearing of election rigging be handed over to serving judges. “Currently 17 rigging cases in Punjab, four in Sindh, two in Balochistan and one in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are sub judice.”

Babar Yaqoob said that all the major political parties have submitted their details of assets.
