Operation in Punjab: Provincial govt decides to give special powers to Rangers

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Punjab government has on Friday decided to give special powers to Rangers to carry out an operation against criminals and banned outfits based in the southern districts of the province.

The operation will be carried out in three southern districts of the province including Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan, however, the Punjab government has asked the federal government to provide gunship helicopters.

Sources said that the decision was taken in a high-level meeting in the light of intelligence department’s report. The intelligence agencies have been informed that banned outfits and criminal gangs have made an alliance.


The authorities have also decided to get help from Sindh Rangers and Frontier Corps Balochistan during the operation and DPO Dera Ghazi Khan has been transferred to district Rajanpur.
