Opposition agrees to field joint presidential candidate: Ahsan Iqbal
MURREE (92 News) – PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said that the opposition has agreed to field a joint candidate for the slot of president.
Addressing a press conference after the APC presided over by PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday, he said that the PPP has sought time for consultation until tonight.
“The other opposition parties have authorized Shehbaz Sharif to announce the presidential candidate tomorrow,” he announced.
The PML-N leader said that in the recent elections, the ECP’s technical system had already failed. “The APC took notice of threats to opposition parties and strongly condemned them. It is a threat to basic rights,” he said.
He said that the APC took notice of targeting of the opposition leaders who should be provided security.
Ahsan Iqbal said that Nawaz Sharif and his family are being deprived of their basic right. “The government is resorting to revengeful activities.”
He said that the APC had also condemned firing on innocent people in Waziristan and demanded a probe into it.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said that Aitzaz Ahsan is a candidate nominated by the PPP.
