Opposition terms PM’s address as advertisement of amnesty scheme
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The opposition parties strongly criticized the Prime Minister Imrna Khan’s address to the nation and declared the address as advertisement of amnesty scheme on Monday.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the nation and urged citizens to declare their assets by June 30 and take part in the asset declaration scheme.
Aleema, Tareen told to legalize their benami assets
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said a message has been given to Aleema Khanum, the sister of Imran Khan, and Jahangir Tareen to legalize their benami assets.
She asked the premier who will be held accountable for the promises made to the nation? “Imran Khan had declared a year ago that he would put all those people in jail who took benefit from PML-N’s amnesty scheme. In which jail is Aleema Khan incarcerated?
“The prime minister must declare the assets of his wife, children, and sisters. The government took loans of Rs30,000 billion in ten months and did not do any development work.
“The budget prepared by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will leave the people penniless.
Slamming to PM’s address, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address to the nation was only advertisement of the amnesty scheme .
The PPP leader maintained that the premier had addressed the same issue a few days back, and the government should answer that what was the need to discuss the amnesty scheme again after two weeks.
“Imran Khan should come to the parliament if he wants to address the nation. The prime minister is addressing the nation on television while the assembly session is ongoing.
“How can people trust this scheme when even the Parliament has not been taken into confidence? The nation was waiting for a government policy, but Imran Khan’s speech had only allegations in it.
“It apparently seems this amnesty scheme will also fail like the previous one. The incumbent government has not achieved any economic target in ten months.
“The economy is being run to benefit a few people. The names of those persons should be announced who are taking advantage from the scheme and the prime minister should let it be known that how much relief will be given to the people in the upcoming budget.”
PPP senior leader Nayyer Bukhari mentioned that the government can be run with the strategies but not with threats. “It seems the amnesty scheme has been failed. This was advertisement of amnesty scheme and not address to the nation,” he explained.
He further termed that Imran Khan’s address was admitting the failure of government and he did not tell anything related to the relief of the general public.
