Pak-Russia ink agreement for construction of LNG gas pipeline
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan and Russia have on Friday signed an inter-governmental agreement for the construction of gas pipeline project from Lahore to Karachi.
The ceremony was held at the Prime Minister Secretariat on Friday where Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak signed the agreement. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was also present on the occasion.
The 1,100 kilometer pipeline with a capacity of 12.4bcm per annum will connect liquefied natural gas terminals of Karachi with those of Lahore. Russia will make an investment of two billion dollars in the project, the first phase of which will be completed by December 2017.
The work on the project will be started in the next three or four months.
