Pakistan flags waved during anti-India rally in Srinagar

SRINAGAR – Pakistan flags were waved during a rally against the house arrest of Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq after Friday prayers in Nowhatta area, 92 News reported.

The protesters chanted the slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.

They also threw stones at the security forces. Pitched battles were fought between the security forces and the protesters, with the police resorting to aerial firing and tear-gas shelling.

Mirwaiz was put under house arrest on Wednesday, a day before his proposed rally to Eidgah to commemorate the death anniversary of his father Maulvi Muhammad Farooq and senior Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Lone.


Meanwhile, the Indian government has refused to give the passport to Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani.
