Pakistan ready to facilitate Afghan peace talks, says Sartaj Aziz
NEW YORK (92 News) – Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has on Sunday said that Pakistan is ready to facilitate peace talks if the Afghan Government so desired.
Addressing a High-level function on “Afghanistan’s Peaceful Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation” in New York on Sunday he said that Pakistan has reaffirmed its strong solidarity with Afghan people stressing that peace in Afghanistan was essential for its own security.
He expressed hope that the Afghan peace process would be resumed soon.
He stressed that Pakistan’s efforts to persuade Afghan Taliban to participate in peace talks should not be wrongly interpreted.
