Panama Papers’ Probe: CJP rejects govt request to form commission
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has on Friday rejected the government’s request to form a judicial commission to probe into Panama Leaks until resolution of the terms of reference (ToRs) issue.
CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali has written a letter to the Law Ministry in this regard. He said that the judicial commission cannot be formed until the issue of the TORs is worked out.
The CJP said that the commission would require an indefinite time to investigate into the matters in the light of given ToRs.
The letter further stated that the Supreme Court would consider the government’s request to form the judicial commission, only after provision of the additional information.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali for the formation of a commission to probe into the Panama Leaks so that people may witness their fairness.
He announced to present himself and his family for accountability. “I will accept the decision of the commission, adding that the country was being destabilized in greed of the power.”
The prime minister had said that the accusers will have to apologize to the nation if the allegations were not proved.
