Peshawar upset Karachi Blues to defend National T20 Championship

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Peshawar defeated Karachi Blues by seven wickets to defend the National T20 Championship title at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Chasing the 178-run target, Peshawar players displayed aggressive batting and achieved it in the 19th over.

Opener Riffatullah Mohmand scored 43 runs, while Iftikhar Ahmed and Muhammad Rizwan smashed 57 and 58 runs respectively.

Earlier after winning the toss, Peshawar invited Karachi Blues to bat.

Karachi Blues amassed 177 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Peshawar’s Imran Khan Junior and Imran Khan took three and two wickets respectively.

Muhammad Rizwan was declared Man of the Match.

Speaking on the occasion, PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said that the chances of Pak-India series are 50-50. “Pakistan will suffer some financial loss if the series was not played. However, it does not matter,” he said.

He said that Shahid Afridi will led the Green Shirts in the T20 World Cup.

The PCB chairman said that the Zaheer Abbas’s Indian tour was of private nature.
