Peshawar’s Popalzai claims moon-sighting, parts of KPK celebrate Eid today

PESHAWAR (92  News) – Cleric Shahabuddin Popalzai of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan on Thursday claimed to have sighted the Shawal moon and announced Eid in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to be celebrated today.

As a result, parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), including Peshawar, are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today (Friday) while the rest of the country is observing the last fast of Ramazan. The unofficial moon-sighting committee has been operating in Peshawar for years. He announced Shawwal moon had been sighted at several places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
