PM calls corrupt person as enemy of people
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday called corrupt person as enemy of the people.
Addressing a ceremony on the Anti-corruption Day, the prime minister said that money that was to be spent on education and other necessities of people had been used to purchase palaces in abroad, adding that this money also transferred to the pockets of corrupt people.
Imran Khan mentioned that the people in Multan never want Metro but it was built. “Multan Metro is being operated without any passenger. We listen a strange logic that if anyone bribe he also spend on the people,” he added.
PM lauds Punjab govt for launching anti-corruption app
The prime minister lauded the Punjab government for launching an anti-corruption app, which is accessible for masses to lodge corruption complaints. “The anti-corruption efforts in Pakistan will pave way for a modernistic outlook for the country,” he said.
App to transform Pakistan into modern nation
The prime minister expressed hope that this app will help transforming Pakistan into a modern and transparent nation. He also said that anti-corruption establishment Punjab has been successful in recovering billions of rupees from corrupt elements which need to be widely publicized.
Recovered money to be spent for betterment of people
Imran Khan said that the recovered money will be spent on the uplift and betterment of people. He urged the Punjab government to widely disseminate information about the money recovered from corruption to people.
The premier regretted that people are unaware about the vital link between corruption and their miseries. Referring to the example of China, He said hundreds of people have been put in jails on graft charges including ministers in order to eradicate corruption from their country.
He said in Lebanon, Chile, Iraq and other countries people are protesting on roads against the corruption of their rulers. He said in this day and age it is not easy to hide corruption.
Corrupt countries are poor, transparent nations are rich
Imran Khan said today corrupt countries are poor and transparent nations are rich. He referred to the example of Congo, Nigeria and other African countries which are rich in natural resources but their people are facing extreme level of poverty due to rampant corruption in their societies. Switzerland, on the other hand, lacks natural resources but is very prosperous and rich.
Pm Khan said a modern and prosperous society gives great emphasis on anti-corruption. He said when corruption in any society increases, the money that was to be spent on health, education and other necessities of people transfers to the pockets of corrupt people.
“As those corrupt people are afraid of discovery of their ill-gotten wealth, they transfer it abroad,” he maintained. Terming overseas Pakistanis as precious asset of Pakistan, he said they can invest heavily in the country if they are sure of no corruption.
