ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that they cannot come out of the quagmire of the loans if they did not pay the taxes.

In an interview on Thursday, he said that the people are afraid of paying the tax for lack of confidence in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). “In the next 48 hours, we will bring a programme,” he said.

He said that corruption is an outcome of price-hike and unemployment. “We will introduce a new plan in the next 48 hours.”

The prime minister said that the British had enslaved the people of the sub-continent and subjected them to cruelty. “The former rulers adopted the British-like lifestyle,” he said.

He said that his objective is to take the money launderers to jail. “A corrupt person cannot appear in a TV show in the UK,” he added.

Imran Khan said that Pakistan’s defence minister was getting salary from Dubai. “A person sitting a house worth Rs900 million says he is not a Pakistani,” he added.

The prime minister said that the country was facing an annual deficit of Rs8 billion. “The people’s money will be spent on the people. We will introduce reforms in the FBR. We can easily collect Rs8,000 billion if the nation wishes,” he said.

He said that the country makes progress through the rule of law. “Tax-evasion by the elite creates problems. The ruling elite destroyed the FBR,” he said.

The prime minister said that non-filers would be considered illegal after the amnesty scheme. “Currently only 200 million people pay the tax. Pakistan has minimum tax-payers,” he added.

He said that the cabinet had reduced its expenditures by 10 percent.
