ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has inaugurated the flagship project of government, the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit on Thursday.

The BRT built at the cost around 70 billion rupees, will bring revolution in the provincial capital’s transport system as approximately 340,000 common people will enjoy a safe, comfortable and affordable travel in luxury buses on daily basis.

PM launches Ehsaas Nashonuma Programme

PM Imran Khan has formally launched Ehsaas Nashonuma Programme to provide nutritious food and stipend to deserving families to check stunting in the country.

The Prime Minister visited a Nashonuma Centre in Khyber District today. Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Sania Nishtar briefed the Prime Minister about the programme.

Ehsaas Nashonuma is the first anti-stunting program in the country’s history. The budget of this year is 8.52 billion rupees.

Under this program, the deserving families will be provided with nutritious food along with quarterly stipend, which will be two thousand rupees for girls and fifteen hundred rupees for boys.

The program has been started to protect pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children under the age of two years from malnutrition.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan while talking to senior journalists about the mega project in Peshawar.

He said the BRT Peshawar would provide state of the art travelling facility to people at affordable fare in the provincial capital. The BRT project consists of a 27.5 kilometers main track with 31 stations.

According to the sources, the prime minister was given invitation to inaugurated the Peshawar BRT project. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and others will accompany the premier.

Meanwhile, the distribution of one hundred thousand ‘Fare ZU Cards’ is also near to completion.

It is pertinent to mention here that the long-awaited project is being inaugurated on August 13 after six deadlines. The KP government has also announced the fares for the BRT service.

According to documentation, the minimum bus fare for Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will be Rs15 while a maximum fare of Rs 50 has been set by the provincial government.
