PM Nawaz, COAS Raheel Sharif to meet Iranian President today
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif will on Tuesday (today) meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in an effort to defuse tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Pakistan put forward proposals to reduce tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran that spiraled after the execution of Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia and to restore diplomatic relations.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that two countries should resolve differences peacefully in the interest of entire Muslim Ummah.
Earlier, the Prime Minister and the Army Chief along with a delegation visited Saudi Arabia yesterday and met King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.
The Prime Minister expressed deep concern over recent escalation of tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran. He called for resolution of differences through peaceful means in larger interest of Ummah, particularly during these challenging times.
