PM Nawaz Sharif announces compensatory package for earthquake victims
PESHAWAR (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has on Wednesday announced a comprehensive assistance package of Rs 600,000 for each victim of the October 26 earthquake.
Talking to media in Peshawar on Wednesday, he announced that Rs 600,000 will be given to the family of each deceased and Rs 100,000 to each injured person. Similarly, Rs 200,000 will be given to the one who lost his limb or any other body part in the calamity.
The prime minister said that the package has been prepared in consultation with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. “Both the Federal and Provincial governments will share cost of the package,” he said.
He said that Rs 200,000 would also be given for the construction of completely damaged houses while one hundred thousand rupees each for the partially damaged houses.
Nawaz Sharif said the process of payment of compensation will start from Monday.
Earlier, at a briefing in Governor House, he was informed that relief goods including tents, blankets and food items have also been sent to all affected areas. The Prime Minister will also visit Chitral to have an aerial view of the quake hit areas and to meet with the affected people.
