PM Nawaz Sharif asks Sri Lankan traders to invest in Pakistan
COLOMBO – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged Sri Lankan traders to invest in Pakistan which is its overcoming difficulties, 92 News reported.
Addressing Sri Lankan businessmen on Wednesday, he said that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor will prove a milestone in the progress and change in the region.
“Both countries have good political relations but the economic relations do not commensurate with the political relationships. They need to move forward on economic front,” he maintained. “We should start relying and depending on each other to meet our economic needs.”
The prime minister said that Pakistan’s GDP growth had risen to four point six percent from three percent and was expected to be about five percent at the close of current financial year. “Similarly, per capital income has risen by 12.9 percent, while the budget deficit had been reduced to 5.3 percent.”
He said that power shortages would be overcome by 2017, while the war against terrorism had almost reached its conclusion with the dismantling of terrorist hideouts and sanctuaries.
