PM statement about ‘aliens’ against spirit of constitution: ECP
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday took exception to prime minister’s remarks about ‘aliens’ holding the upcoming elections, saying that the statement is against the spirit of constitution and ECP mandate.
The ECP said it was fully prepared and ready to hold the 2018 general elections. It also said the ECP was entirely independent when it came to discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
An ECP spokesperson said those holding important offices should refrain from making statements based on speculation and hearsay.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was reported on Thursday to have said his party would take part in the next elections even though some invisibles would be holding the polls.
