PM visits Muzaffarabad, inquires after health of injured at CMH
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan visited Muzaffarabad on Wednesday and inquired after health of injured persons at Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
During his visit, the prime minister reviewed the latest situation after snow-slide incident in Neelum Valley. He paid a visit to CMH and inquired about the health of those injured undergoing treatments.
The Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) chief secretary briefed the premier regarding damages incurred due to snowfall and avalanches and also briefed him about the efforts undertaken.
Earlier, three villages were badly affected after another avalanche collapsed in the Neelum Valley. In the Sargan Valley, five more bodies were recovered. The death toll due to heavy rains and snowfall has touched 73. Several people are still missing. Over 200 houses have been destroyed by the devastating rains across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pak Army and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) are busy in the rescue activities.
Heavy snowfall is continuing in Gilgit-Baltistan, Skardu, Astore, Upper Dir, Chilas, Abbottabad and adjoining areas. Locals have been restricted to their houses due to the rain and snowfall. Road links could not be restored so far.
Skardu has so far received up to five-foot snow. Work is going on to remove snow at Skardu airport.
On the other hand, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) spokesperson said that all-out efforts will be made for the rehabilitation of the affected people.
