Police nabs five protesting doctors in Peshawar

PESHAWAR (92 News) – Police have on Tuesday launched a crackdown against Young Doctors Association (YDA) doctors, who were protesting in favor of their demands at Hayatabad Medical Complex.

As per details, the protesting doctors tried to shut down the Out Patient Department (OPD) and Emergency of the Hayatabad Medical Complex in favor of their demands.

The protesting doctors chanted slogans in favour of their demands. The oungyoung doctors were protesting for the amendment in Medical Officer Act, privatization of hospitals and dissolution of PGMI.

A heavy contingent of police was deployed outside the wards to control untoward situation.

Police also baton-charged the protesting doctors after a heated argument occurred when doctors tried to shutdown the hospital’s OPD and emergency.

The hospital administration said that the police arrested at least five doctors including YDA President Dr Gulab Noor Afridi for violating the section 144.
