Polling for 2nd phase of LG elections in Punjab and Sindh underway
LAHORE (92 News) – Polling is in progress for the second phase of Local Government Elections in 12 districts of Punjab and 14 districts of Sindh, while the polling started at 7:30 this morning and will continue till 5:30 in the evening without any break.
The Election Commission has postponed Local Bodies’ elections in 81 local councils of Sindh. The ECP has also established a control room in Islamabad. Complaints can be lodged on telephone numbers 051-9210816-8 for Punjab and on 051-9210819 for Sindh.
A voter can be verified from the website of the election commission. Strict security arrangements have been made for the elections in both Punjab and Sindh.
Chairman, Vice Chairman and General councilors will be elected in 133 rural union councils of the district and 114 wards of municipal committees of Khanewal, Mian Channu, Kabirwala, Jehanian, Tulamba and Abdul Hakim. Election Commission has postponed elections in two union councils of the district.
1070 polling stations have been made in the district. 55 polling stations have been declared sensitive where extra security personnel will be deployed. Registered voters of the district are over 14 lac 34 thousand.
Around 1478 polling stations have been set up in the district out of them 50 polling stations have been declared more sensitive, while 355 polling stations have been declared less sensitive. Around 2 million voters will exercise their right to vote.
