Polling underway for LG-Polls in Punjab and Sindh

KARACHI (92 News) – Polling for local government by-elections is underway in 57 Union Councils of Punjab and 44 Union Councils of Sindh.

The polling started at 8:30am and will continue till 5pm without any break.

In Punjab, the polling is underway in 57 Union Councils of Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Attock, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Chiniot, Gujranwala, Khanewal, Sialkot, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan and Narowal.

In Sindh, the polling is underway in 44 Union Councils and four Town Committees of Khairpur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Kashmor, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdad Kot, Hyderabad, Naushehro Feroz, Tandu Allah Yar, Tharparkar, Thattha, Sajawal, Mirpur Khas, Karachi East and Karachi West.


The elections had been postponed in these Union Councils following the complaints of clashes, improper printing of ballot papers, shortage of ballot papers and reservations of candidates.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has postponed local government elections in Sanghar and Badin districts scheduled for today citing law and order situation. The decision was taken on the request of the Sindh Government due to poor law and order situation in the area.
