Polling underway in closely contested NA-144 by-elections

OKARA (92 News) – The polling in NA-144 Okara by-election is underway under strict security and will continue till 5pm without any break.

At total of eight candidates are contesting the by-elections with Chaudhry Ali Arif of PML-N, Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sohna of PTI and independent candidate Chaudhry Riazul Haq are the leading contestants.

A total of two hundred ten polling stations have been set up in the constituency to facilitate over three hundred and sixteen thousand registered voters.

Strict security arrangements are in place across Okara. CCTV cameras and walk-through gates have been installed at all polling stations in the constituency. Heavy police contingents have been deployed at the polling booths to avert any untoward situation.


The seat was vacated after disqualification of PML-N’s Chaudhry Arif for having a fake degree.
