Power shortfall reaches 5,500 MW causing 16-hour shutdown in rural, 12-hour in urban areas
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Up to 16-hour power shutdown is being observed in rural areas and 12-hour in urban areas across the country as the power shortfall increased with the increasing heat.
According to Water and Development Authority (WAPDA) official, power generation stood at 11,500 megawatts, which is 5,500 MW short of the average demand of the country.
The long power shutdowns have paralyzed life, bringing business activities to a standstill. People have also complained of water shortage due to the long shutdown.
