PPP leader and ex-PHF president Qasim Zia released on bail
LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court on Wednesday ordered to release Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Qasim Zia on bail after accepting his bail plea.
A two-member bench of Lahore High Court headed by Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa heard a bail plea of PPP leader Qasim Zia.
As per NAB, the accused was arrested on allegations of cheating public at large, misappropriation, and embezzlement of funds and criminal breach of trust.
The accused – along with other directors – fraudulently deprived general public of their hard-earned money. The NAB added that Qasim allegedly sold fraudulent shares of a company which he is one of the directors.
The NAB lawyer Arif told the court that Qasim Zia was ready to pay his share of Rs 20.2 million after which the NAB didn’t object to his release.
The lawyer said that the NAB could arrest the PPP leader if he tried to violate the agreement.
The court has directed Qasim Zia to submit a surety bond of Rs100,000 against the bail.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Qasim on August 8 on the charges of being one of the accused in a fraud case of worth Rs100 million.
