Preparations in full swing for PAT sit-in
LAHORE (92 News) – The preparations for Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) sit-in at the Istanbul Chowk in the provincial capital are in full swing.
The container and sound system of PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has reached the rally spot.
Fans and air conditioners have also been arranged to escape the heat.
Huge contingent of police has been deployed for security.
Earlier, the Lahore High Court had stopped the Pakistan Awami Tehreek to stage the women sit-in on the Mall Road.
Justice Mamoonur Rashid remarked that there is a ban on holding rallies and meetings at The Mall. He said that the court verdict should be respected.
The court directed the PAT counsel to appear before it with directions about the sit-in from the leadership.
The Punjab Advocate General had told court that the PAT had not submitted an application in this regard. The PAT counsel said that the sit-in venue had been changed.
A spokesman for the PAT said that the party leadership will go to court tomorrow. “The verdict has not been announced yet. We will respect the law,” he said.
PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri had announced to stage a women sit-in in connection with the Tehreek-e-Qisas on August 16.
