President postpones foreign visit for taking oath to next PM on Aug 18

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – President Mamnoon Hussain has decided to postpone his foreign trip for taking oath to the next prime minister on August 18.

The president delayed his foreign trip to Scotland on Caretaker Law and Information Minister Barrister Ali Zafar’s request. The president was scheduled to visit Edinburgh, Scotland for a private visit from August 16 to August 19.

Earlier, the president approved a summary to summon National Assembly session on August 13 (on Monday) at 10:00am. Mamnoon signed a summary approving the NA session on August 13, forwarded to him by the caretaker prime minister. One the first day, newly elected members of the National Assembly will take oath.

After taking oath, this will be followed by the elections for the speaker, deputy speaker and the leader of the House. The summary approved by the president would now be sent to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. The ministry would determine the time for the session.

Earlier on Thursday, caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk had sent a summary to the President for summoning the National Assembly session.

The oath will be followed by the elections of the speaker, the deputy speaker and then the leader of the house.
