Prime suspect in Karachi knife attack rounded up
MANDI BAHAUDIN (92 News) – Police have on Sunday apprehended the prime suspect involved in more than a dozen incident of attacks on women in Karachi from Punjab’s Mandi Bahauddin area.
As per details, police and intelligence agencies carried out a raid at the shrine of Nosho Pak in Mandi Bahauddin area and claimed to have arrested Waseem, the prime suspect involved in more than a dozen incidents of attack on women in Karachi.
The law enforces have shifted the arrested suspect to undisclosed location for further interrogation and preparations are being made to bring the suspect to Karachi.
On Friday, police had claimed to have arrested an accomplice of the knife attacker. The alleged attacker, Mohammad Shehzad, was arrested after a knife was recovered from his possession.
Over a dozen women, including minor girls, have been injured in several knife attacks in parts of the city since September 26.
Initially, the attacker started carrying out attacks in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, prompting authorities concerned to put the police force on high alert. But then such attacks also occurred in other parts of the city, putting a question mark on performance of police, who have several times claimed to have busted gang or networks of high-profile militant organizations or target killers.
Police launched a manhunt for the assailant in the knife attacks in Karachi and piece together evidence that point to the man’s identity and the motive for the attacks.
Police have even offered a reward of Rs 500,000 for information which leads to the arrest of the guilty man. So far, investigators believe that the man responsible for the knife attacks in Karachi is mentally ill, and they describe him as thin and between the ages of 20 and 29.
