Probe to be carried out into recent dollar appreciation: Ishaq Dar
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has on Thursday said that a transparent probe will be carried out into recent dollar appreciation.
Talking to media persons in Islamabad on Thursday, he expressed surprise over the depreciation of the local currency. He said that the forex market is stable and there is no reason in appreciation of dollar.
The minister said that foreign exchange reserves currently stand at twenty one billion dollars. “Of these sixteen billion dollars are with the central bank and the remaining five billion dollars are with the banks.”
He went on to say that an honest and hardworking man will be appointed the SBP governor, adding that the decision will be made on arrival of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from Tajikistan.
Earlier, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said held a meeting with the presidents of different banks and discussed matters that led to the devaluation of rupee.
