PTI gains overall lead in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa LB polls

PESHAWAR (92 News) – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is leading the local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with overall 367 seats in District and Tehsil councils.

According to unofficial results, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) is at the second place with 64 seats. PML-N (52), JI (48) and ANP (44) are the other leading parties in District Council polls. Moreover, 80 independent candidates have also won the elections.

Of total 978 seats of the Tehsil Council, results of 405 seats have been completed. JUI-F (90), JI (73), PPP (50), ANP (44) and PML-N (33) are the other leading parties.

Independent candidates have so far bagged 103  seats.

There were 84,420 candidates in the run for 41,762 seats across the province.


In a report, FAFEN said that as many as 26 cases of rigging have been reported. It held the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Election Commission responsible for the anomalies.

It also stated that the staffers were untrained as well as booths were less in number.
