Admin declines PTI request to hold meeting on the Mall Road
LAHORE (92 News) – The district administration has refused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) meeting to hold a meeting on the Mall Road on Sunday as the second round of the talks failed.
Another round of talks will be held soon.
The district administration had advised the PTI to hold the meeting at Nasir Bagh, Samanabad, Dongi Ground and Football Ground.
The administration told the PTI delegation that the Lahore High Court had banned the meeting on the Mall Road. The PTI delegation was also informed about the threat of terrorism.
PTI chairman Imran Khan said that they would not change the meeting venue at any cost.
He has summoned a meeting of the PTI Political Strategy Committee at 3pm on Saturday.
He will give the final shape to the May 1 meeting.
PTI leader Ijaz Ch said that they would hold the meeting at Charing Cross at any costs.
He said that everyone could hold a meeting at any place on May 1 . “There is no need of permission. The JI had also held the meeting on teh Mall Road last Sunday,” he said.
Qadri, a spokesman for the Punjab government, said that they had not granted the PTI permission to hold the meeting and the violators would have to face the cases.
He said that the government could not allow to hold the meeting on the Mall Road.
