Orange Line project: Punjab govt barred from work within 200 feet of heritage sites

LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court has on Friday barred the Punjab government from work on the Orange Line Metro Train (OMT) project within 200 feet of heritage sites.

The court had reserved the verdict on OMT project on July 12, after counsel for both sides completed their arguments.

The court further cancelled all No Objection Certificates (NOC) for the project.

Earlier, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) stated I its report that inadequate and insufficient arrangements have been made to prevent the destruction of the heritage and cultural site.


The agency had urged the government of Punjab to change the route.
