Theresa May lauds PM Imran Khan’s peace gesture of releasing Indian pilot
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – British Prime Minister Theresa May, in a phone conversation on Sunday, lauded Prime Minister Imran Khan for reducing tensions between Pakistan and India.
According to reports, PM Imran had spoken to his British counterpart who welcomed his decision to release captured Indian pilot Abhinandan as a gesture of peace.
“The Prime Minister spoke to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday. She welcomed his commitment to reducing tensions with India, and the return of Wing Commander Abhinandan,” said her spokesperson.
May had earlier commented on the situation between the neighboring countries saying: “We are in regular contact with both countries urging dialogue and diplomatic solutions to ensure regional stability. We are working closely with international partners, including through the UN Security Council, to de-escalate tensions and are monitoring developments closely and considering implications for British nationals.”
Qatari Amir appreciates release of Indian pilot
Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Sunday held a telephonic conversation with with Prime Minister Imran Khan and he appreciated Pakistan’s peace gesture to release Indian pilot.
Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Faisal said that the Qatari Emir appreciated Pakistan’s efforts and underscored the importance of immediate de-escalation.
“Amir of Qatar and PM Khan spoke on phone. Amir appreciated Pakistan’s gesture of releasing the Indian POW and underscored the importance of immediate de-escalation. He offered his facilitation in this regard,” FO spokesperson tweeted.

Captured IAF pilot handed over to India at Wagah Border
On March 1, the authorities handed over the captured Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan to Indian officials at Wagah Border, Lahore. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman has been released as peace gesture by Pakistan.
PM announces to release Indian pilot as goodwill gesture
Earlier, giving the policy statement during a joint session of the Parliament, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced to release Indian pilot Abhinandan as goodwill gesture.
He said that Pakistan is a peace-loving country and will take each step for establishing peace. The prime minister said that he had already stated that Pakistan will take two steps for peace in response to India’s one.
Two Indian jets shot down by PAF: DG ISPR
The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down two Indian jets and one pilot was arrested, giving the first surprise to India. According to the ISPR, the Indian jets had violated the Line of Control. The PAF gave a timely response and destroyed them. The Pak Army jawans arrested a pilot who was later identified as Abhinandan.
The wreckage of one of the jets fell in the Pakistani territory, while the wreckage of another jet fell in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
One pilot has been arrested by Pak Army jawans.The captured pilot can be heard saying: “My name is Wing Commander Abhinandan. My service number is 27981. I am a flying pilot. My religion is Hindu.”
