Quake of magnitude 5.3 in Japan’s Hokkaido, no tsunami danger

TOKYO – An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 jolted Japan’s northernmost main island of Hokkaido on Thursday, but there was no danger of a tsunami and no immediate report of injuries or major damage.

The quake came roughly two months after a major earthquake hit Japan’s southernmost island of Kyushu and killed 49 people. -Reuters
