Rains, windstorm claim 35 lives in KP
PESHAWAR (92 News) – 35 people were killed and more than 90 sustained injuries as rains and windstorm wreaked havoc in Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera.
Strong rain and windstorm lashed Peshawar and adjoining areas causing severe damage including several incidents of roof collapse.
Including women and children, the injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar and district headquarters hospitals Charsadda and Nowshera.
The storm affected power supply system and also damaged crops.
A control room has been set up at the Commissioner Office Peshawar to facilitate the aggrieved families.
The Pakistan Army also extended out its support in rescue efforts.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), rescue teams were dispatched to affected areas to assist civilian administration. The CMH is put on alert with doctors present to treat the injured in wake of Peshawar rains and storm.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed his condolences with the bereaved families and directed concerned authorities to expedite rescue and relief efforts in the rain-affected areas.
