Rasheed apologises from passengers for inconvenience
LAHORE 92 News) – Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad apologized from passengers for all the inconvenience caused owing to the train derailment incident at Rahim Yar Khan.
Talking to media, Rasheed asked for an apology from passengers while sternly rejecting the reports which accuse the launch of new trains as a reason behind the delay of track’s restoration.
Trains schedule remains affected for fourth day
The trains scheduled remained affected for a fourth day after more than eight bogies of a freight train derailed near Rahim Yar Khan on April 1.
After trains faced delays in departure and arrival, Pakistan Railways is cancelling some train services such as the Karakoram Express from Lahore to Karachi. A day earlier, Karachi Express was also cancelled.
Railways officials said that a train service will be cancelled daily till schedules return to normal and there are no further delays.
The Business Express departed Lahore for Karachi after a delay of 20 hours. Passengers who were scheduled to take the Karakoram Express departed for Karachi on the Business Express.
Railway traffic had suspended on Monday on up and down tracks after 13 bogies of a freight train derailed near Rahim Yar Khan. The suspension caused a delay in arrival and departure of trains due to repair work and schedules are still affected.
On the other hand, the railways could only be succeeded in opening partial traffic at the track after efforts of 14 hours when 13 wagons of a freight train got derailed in between Kot Samba and Taranda railway stations near Rahim Yar Khan.
Meanwhile, the passengers are being troubled during the journey. The PR suspended train operation and stopped several trains at different stations so that passengers could be facilitated.
The railways sources said that traffic operation would be normalized in two or three days. The PR administration felt sorry to passengers for inconvenience they had to face.
