Rehearsals for Change of Command ceremony in full swing
RAWALPINDI (92 News) – As Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced General Qamar Javed Bajwa as the new head of the country’s army, ending weeks of speculation, the rehearsals for Change of Command ceremony are in full swing at the GHQ on Sunday.
Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa would take over from the outgoing Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Raheel Sharif, in a change-of-command ceremony in GHQ on Tuesday. General Bajwa will become one of the most influential people in the country.
General Raheel Sharif will hand command stick to General Bajwa that symbolizes the transfer of control of Pakistan Army.
The outgoing COAS is retiring after completing a three-year term, in which he quickly became immensely popular for cracking down on terror groups and bringing about a drop in violence.
General Bajwa is expected to face serious challenges. General Bajwa will become 16th army chief of Pakistan with the change of command.
